Will o the Winds Farm

Join Carly and Tyler Stephenson for a tour of their seven-year-old, 20-acre farm outside Washburn. They pasture-raise 12 to 20 hogs a year, and in addition to selling the pork, Carly renders the fat to make scented soaps. They also raise meat and egg chickens, maple syrup, garlic, and winter squash.

Tim Mika has decades of experience raising grass-fed cattle on his family’s farm. He’s also the agricultural technician for the Ashland County Land and Water Conservation office and will cover soil health, soil testing, nutrient management, local county and NRCS support programs for farmers. The regional WDNR Wildlife Damage coordinator will also give a short presentation about helping farmers with damage caused by deer, bear, geese, turkey and elk.
